The music industry has undergone a massive transformation in the past decade and a half. Despite unprecedented general access to music creation tools and potential audiences, women are still drastically underrepresented in the world music production, comprising ~5% of those working in the industry. It is the goal of The Fifty One to improve those numbers one girl at a time.
Founded in 2014 by Natalie Bayne and Brittany Cohen, The Fifty One has trained dozens of young women and girls in the arts and technology of Audio Engineering and Music Production through camps, after-school workshops, and one-to-one mentorships. All of our classes and training are free to girls and female-identifying individuals between the ages of 11 and 19.
