Grow Through the Arts was founded in 2016 by three Seattle-area Teaching Artists who believe the arts have the power to change lives for the better. We use our experience as teachers of music, theater, movement, and mindfulness to offer arts-based strategies in strengthening community, compassionate communication, creative expression, and conflict resolution. Our vision is to support school communities to build these essential life skills through long-term residencies, faculty/staff professional development, and parent workshops.
In our first year, Grow Through the Arts has explored our dual roles in youth education and professional development. Our initial collaborations include classes offered through the Highline School District and workshops through School's Out Washington, giving youth development workers concrete strategies to bring creativity and compassion to their life-changing work with young people. We look forward to continuing and expanding these offerings for the 2017-2018 school year, particularly targeting underserved populations.
You can be part of this mission by funding our work with such programs as Southwest Youth & Family Services, who rely on grants to bring our work to their classrooms. Help our fledgling organization take flight! Thank you for your support.
