Converge Dance Festival has a mission to support Pacific Northwest Dance Artists by producing this annual festival which serves as a resource for emerging to mid-career artists. The festival has a focus on innovation, building community, collaboration and creating space for artists to grow their ideas and take risks in their creative work.
Dance is a powerful art form that allows us to grow in empathy and awareness. Dance is a unifying force that facilitates dialogue, offering us the experience of connecting to our humanity where we can unify in causes, share beliefs and experiences, and challenge individual and societal patterns of thinking. It is important to build supportive communities and safe spaces where people can exchange these ideas and perspectives. To be seen and witnessed. We hope to share meaningful work with our community and continue to create space for connection and dialogue.
This year's festival will fully produce eight Seattle-based dance artists, and will provide a professional performing opportunity for more than 30 local Seattle artists.
The 2018 Converge Dance Festival is produced, directed, and curated by Angelica DeLashmette. This is her last season producing the festival, and she hopes that it can continue to serve as a resource for artists.
