Yellow Fish provides an organized platform for durational performance work in the form of a festival. The festival supports innovation and experimental curation of performance art that includes but is not limited to movement, sound, taste, language, environment, and time as concept and material in performance. Yellow Fish aims to bring awareness to the significance of time and duration in a multitude of cultural practices and facilitate community involvement in historical and contemporary thought surrounding durational performance.
Yellow Fish is the only festival in the country whose sole focus is to present durational perfomance work. We produce a multi-day festival for local, national, and international professional artists to gather, generate, and present duration based performance in multiple venues and spaces within the Pacific Northwest. An extension of the festival is a digital archive of research, writings, reflections, and documentation of past artists, presenters, and curators who have been experimentalists and leaders in duration based performance work.
